Not sure if it’s time yet? Understanding your pet’s medical condition is crucial, but it’s also important to consider how you and your loved ones want to spend your pet’s last days together. We can help by assessing your pet’s quality-of-life and providing guidance during this difficult process.

Start The Quality-of-life assessment tool
Our Pet Quality-of-Life Scale offers a gentle guide to help you assess your beloved companion’s well-being. It provides a compassionate and objective perspective of their quality-of-life, complementing the advice of your trusted veterinarian. Together, these resources ensure that your decisions are rooted in your pet’s best interest and comfort.
Our Aftercare Options
As you navigate this tender time, we invite you to explore the various aftercare options available to honor the memory of your cherished companion. From information about cremation and aquamation to burial, or other meaningful tributes, we can guide you through the choices that feel most fitting.

What to expect:
Upon Arrival
Sedation
During Sedation
This is the time for you to get in your final snuggles and kisses as your cherished companion becomes drowsy or drifts off to sleep.
Euthanasia
In the final step of euthanasia, a compassionate approach is taken to ensure that your beloved pet experiences a peaceful transition. A carefully administered injection is gently given, allowing your cherished companion to gracefully and painlessly embrace a restful departure from this world.
After your pet has passed
The veterinarian will give you as much time as you need to say goodbye to your cherished companion.
A fur clipping can be requested before your pet departs from your home.
Aftercare
After you have had a chance to say goodbye to your pet, your Peaceful Passing veterinarian will assist in carrying your pet to their vehicle. They will wrap your pet in a blanket, towel, or sheet that you have provided. Larger pets will be carried on a hand-held stretcher to provide support. We will request the assistance of at least one other strong individual at the home for pets weighing over 30 lbs. Your pet will be cared for by your Peaceful Passing veterinarian until they are transferred to the care of one of our aftercare providers (cremation or aquamation). Rest assured that your pet’s body will be treated with dignity and respect during their aftercare journey. Should you wish to deliver your pet to one of our aftercare providers directly, this can be arranged with advance notice. Please mention this to our Peaceful Passing Client Care Team and we will be happy to assist. Your comfort is very important to us.
Memorialization
If you have chosen cremation or aquamation for your pet’s aftercare, and if you have indicated that you are interested in purchasing a memorial product (urn, paw print, or other keepsake), we will assist you in purchasing your selections either over the phone, by email, or by providing online access to a private portal. All paw/nose print selections must be made before your pet is cremated or aquamated.

frequently asked questions
What is included in the cost?
The cost for the visit will vary depending on the size of your pet, the distance driven, and other factors such as the need for additional time or medications. The in-home euthanasia service includes the veterinary visit to your home, a brief assessment, and the sedation & euthanasia procedure. Additionally, based on your aftercare selection, the cost may include, cremation or aquamation, transportation, and keepsakes.
Will you assess my pet upon arrival?
How long does the appointment take?
We understand this is a tender time. Your veterinarian will be present in your home for 20-60 minutes, allowing ample space and time for you to say goodbye and be with your companion in a way that feels most comfortable and peaceful.
Will the vet take my pet with them after the appointment?
During your appointment, the vet will confirm your aftercare selection. If you opt for cremation or aquamation services, the vet will handle your pet’s transportation from your home and will care for your pet’s body until they are respectfully transferred to the appointed aftercare provider.
Are you available for emergencies?
Peaceful Passing’s priority is to accommodate our patients and we can usually have a veterinarian available for same day emergency visits. However, Peaceful Passing is not a 24 hour emergency service. If this is a serious emergency, we recommend contacting your regular veterinary clinic or the nearest veterinary emergency facility.
What Pet Parents Are Saying
Posted on Joanne ChestertonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. On Dec 21st we had to say goodbye to our sweet Drake. It was an unimaginable day, one I had dreaded for many years and never truly believed I would have to face. But when I knew it was time, I reached out to Peaceful Passings. From the very first contact, they responded quickly and with such kindness, despite my wavering indecision and being an emotional wreck. Dr. Graham was wonderfully compassionate, and soft-spoken. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect person to be by our side or to help our Drake take his final step in passing. I was able to hold Drake to my chest as we both laid together through the entire process, which gave us both comfort until the very end. I never wanted to see my boy go but this was the very best outcome of what I hadn't anticipated would come to be. Dr. Graham and the team at Peaceful Passings helped us move through the worst day of our lives with calm, dignity, and grace, and for that, I am extremely grateful.Posted on Nicole RaftisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Peaceful Passing team were incredibly helpful during a very difficult time. Our dog had a very sudden turn in health and needed medical assistance to pass on as comfortably as possible. Dr. Shana arrived very quickly and provided the calm, confident support we needed to help Bruce have a peaceful passing in the comfort and privacy of our own home, surrounded by his family. Their process, from beginning to end, is compassionate, professional and well thought out, making a very sad time a little bit easier. Highly recommend this team and their services.Posted on Eric HeinoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our dog hated going to the vet clinic and with mobility issues it would have been physically painful to load him into the car. Being comfortable and calm in his own space was so much better and at a comparable price.Posted on Soul SeekerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Top level service. Dr. Shanna Clinch is amazing. Thank you for coming to our home and helping our sweet Angel and previously Dufus pass peacefully. Your kindness, compassion, and gentle care made an unbearable moment a little more bearable. We’re deeply grateful for the respect and comfort you gave both Angel, Dufus and our family. Highly recommend the at-home service.Posted on Jennifer StogiannisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Saving goodbye to our sweet Lexi, who had been part of our lives for 14 amazing years, was one of the most heartbreaking experiences of our lives. Even on such a painful day, Peaceful Passing made everything feel calm and supported. Their quick response, punctual arrival, and thoughtful guidance helped us focus on being with Lexi. Dr. Hooper was incredibly kind and compassionate, comforting our family and Lexi every step of the way. She treated Lexi with love and dignity, explained everything with patience, and gave us the time we needed to say goodbye. Being able to do this at home, surrounded by familiar sights, smells, and the people who loved her most, made all the difference. Our hearts are broken, but we are deeply grateful to Dr. Hooper and the Peaceful Passing team for helping our beloved Lexi leave this world peacefully, with love, comfort, and respect.
