Your dog can rest in their favourite spot—their bed, a patch of sun on the floor, or out in the garden—surrounded by the family they adore. We are here to make sure the process of putting your dog to sleep is handled with the gentleness and dignity they have always deserved.
A Gentle Farewell for Your Cat
Cats are creatures of comfort, deeply attached to the familiar sights and sounds of their home. For a cat who is unwell or frail, a trip to the vet can be a source of great anxiety. Our cat euthanasia service in Burlington is designed to honour their need for peace and quiet.
We provide a calm, unhurried visit, allowing your cat to stay wherever they feel most secure, whether that’s curled up on your lap or in their favourite chair. This gentle approach ensures their last moments are about love and comfort, not fear. It’s a peaceful passing that reflects the quiet dignity of your cherished friend.

Virtual and In-Home Quality-of-Life Assessments
Not sure if it’s time yet? Understanding your pet’s medical condition is crucial, but it’s also important to consider how you and your loved ones want to spend your pet’s last days together. We can help by assessing your pet’s quality-of-life and providing guidance during this difficult process.

Start The Quality-of-life assessment tool
Our Pet Quality-of-Life Scale offers a gentle guide to help you assess your beloved companion’s well-being. It provides a compassionate and objective perspective on their quality-of-life, complementing the advice of your trusted veterinarian. Together, these resources ensure your decisions are rooted in your pet’s best interests and comfort.
Our Aftercare Options
After your pet has passed, we continue to support you by taking care of all the aftercare details. We work with trusted local partners to provide respectful and professional cremation services, handling everything with care.
You can choose the option that is right for your family:
Communal Cremation: Your pet is cremated with other beloved pets, and their ashes are scattered respectfully.
Private Cremation: Your pet is cremated individually, and their ashes are returned to you in an urn of your choice as a lasting memorial.
We will handle the transportation of your pet with the utmost dignity, giving you peace of mind during this difficult time.

Our Gentle Process: What to expect
Our goal is to create a peaceful atmosphere for both you and your pet. When our veterinarian arrives at your Burlington home, she will take all the time you need to explain the process and answer your questions. We move at your pace, so your family has the time to say goodbye in a way that feels right.
The process involves two gentle injections. The first is a sedative that lets your pet drift into a deep, peaceful sleep, so they feel no pain or fear. Once they are fully asleep and your family is ready, the final injection is given, allowing them to pass away quickly and gently. It is a humane process that feels like falling asleep in a safe and loving place.

frequently asked questions
What is included in the cost?
The cost for the visit will vary depending on the size of your pet, the distance driven, and other factors such as the need for additional time or medications. The in-home euthanasia service includes the veterinary visit to your home, a brief assessment, and the sedation & euthanasia procedure. Additionally, based on your aftercare selection, the cost may include, cremation or aquamation, transportation, and keepsakes.
Will you assess my pet upon arrival?
How long does the appointment take?
We understand this is a tender time. Your veterinarian will be present in your home for 20-60 minutes, allowing ample space and time for you to say goodbye and be with your companion in a way that feels most comfortable and peaceful.
Will the vet take my pet with them after the appointment?
During your appointment, the vet will confirm your aftercare selection. If you opt for cremation or aquamation services, the vet will handle your pet’s transportation from your home and will care for your pet’s body until they are respectfully transferred to the appointed aftercare provider.
Are you available for emergencies?
Peaceful Passing tries to accommodate our patients and a veterinarian is usually available for same day emergency visits. However, Peaceful Passing is not a 24 hour emergency service. If this is a serious emergency, we recommend contacting your regular veterinary clinic or the nearest veterinary emergency facility.

I would highly recommend their services to both colleagues and pet owners seeking a peaceful, dignified end-of-life option.Posted on Christina DailleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Peaceful Passing’s vet was an absolute gift to us during one of the hardest moments of our lives. The care, compassion, and thoughtfulness she showed while helping us say goodbye to our dear Thomas meant everything. She created such a peaceful, respectful experience that truly honored him, and I can’t imagine going through that moment any other way. We will always be grateful for her kindness.Posted on Michael MaingotTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Yesterday, I had to say goodbye to my beloved dog, and unfortunately my experience with Peaceful Passing did not meet my expectations. My initial interaction with their representative was positive. She was polite, professional, and helpful while explaining the process and booking the appointment. However, the scheduling process quickly became stressful. I was first told there was availability within a couple of hours, which felt overwhelming given the situation. When I e-mailed back a little later, I was told that no appointments remained and that an additional after-hours fee would be required if I wanted service that same day. I instead booked for the following day. I was informed the appointment window would be between 1–3pm and was later given a specific time of 1:30pm. At that point, I was asked to provide full payment in advance. I was initially asked to send an e-transfer, which I personally found unusual, but I was able to arrange payment by credit card instead. The total cost came to approximately $1400, including after care arrangements, which was significantly higher than what I have paid for similar services at veterinary clinics. On the day of the appointment, I was notified that the veterinarian would be running late, and she arrived at approximately 1:45pm. From my perspective, the interaction felt quite brief and clinical. After confirming paperwork and after care details, the procedure began shortly after arrival. During the sedation—administered by injection in the rear—my dog had a noticeable physical reaction, which was very difficult to witness. I understand that different veterinarians may use different approaches, but this experience felt more distressing than what I have encountered in the past. I would have much preferred the sedative and final injection to be administered through a single IV in the leg. The final injection was administered in a way that, to me, felt slower than I was expecting, which made the moment feel longer and more emotionally difficult. After my dog passed, the process concluded fairly quickly, and I was asked to bring her out to the vehicle myself when I was ready. This felt abrupt at a time when I was still processing everything. I want to be clear that this review reflects my personal experience. While the booking representative was professional, the overall experience did not feel as gentle, supportive, or compassionate as I had hoped for—especially given the nature of the service and the cost. For such a difficult and emotional moment, I believe many pet owners are looking not just for the service itself, but for a strong sense of care, empathy, and reassurance throughout the process. Unfortunately, that was not how this experience felt to me. For that reason, I would carefully consider other options in the future.Posted on Gerry WaggTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From my first phone call to Peacefull Passing, everyone was so kind and understanding of the pain i was going through. Dr Cathy Hopper was incredible -patient, gentle, and deeply compassionate. She reassured me every step of the way and treated my Pup as if it were her own. I will always be grateful for the care and kindness shown to us during such a heartbreaking time.Posted on Khoral HTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I don't review businesses on Google a lot, but this is a business that deserves endless reviews. My girlfriend just had to have her beloved fur baby, Royal, put down, and all I can really say is this organization went above and beyond. Dr. Suzanne Gallant was so caring and understanding and patient and explained everything to us in the most sensitive way. There was no confusion, uncomfortableness for us or for Royal. Suzanne was with us every second and every step of the way, and we are so grateful that we got to say goodbye to our baby this way. My girlfriend was so anxious about having to potentially have Royal put down in a noisy, uncomfortable, and unfamiliar environment and this made and impossible experience that much more comfortable. For anyone who is having to say goodbye to their furry family member, I cannot recommend Peaceful Passing enough. Thank you for giving my girlfriend and her beloved baby girl the most respectful passing we could have ever asked for. Royal was in the best possible hands, and got to make one last friend before saying goodbye.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
