Pet Cremation And Aquamation Services

How your pet is cared for after death is important to us

At Peaceful Passing, we believe that every pet owner should have the choice of aftercare that best suits their values, beliefs, and wishes. With this in mind, we are honoured to offer Cremation Services and Aquamation Services both through local pet aftercare companies.

Both companies uphold a strict code of ethics in every aspect of their services. You can trust that your pet’s remains will be treated with the utmost dignity and respect, that your pet will be properly identified, and that your memorial preferences will be handled with care and accuracy.

How We Choose To Remember our Pets Is Personal

Many pet owners choose to keep their pet’s ashes and will either scatter them or display them in an urn. Others may not decide to keep their pet’s remains but may choose to keep a lock of hair or to have a clay or ceramic impression of their pet’s paw created. Some pet owners feel that their memories and photos will satisfy their needs for commemoration. If you are looking for creative ways to memorialize your pet, our blog offers suggestions.

What Aftercare Options are Available?

Private cremation provides you with the opportunity to keep your pet’s cremated remains as a permanent and personal keepsake. When you choose private cremation, your treasured pet will be the only pet in the cremation chamber during the cremation process. When the cremation process is complete, we ensure that you receive only the cremated remains of your pet.

Cremated remains will be returned in a scatter tube, unless you have purchased an upgraded urn. You can find a number of urns, paw prints, and additional keepsakes in Gateway’s catalog.  Please let us know if you’re interested in any of these at the time of booking the visit.

When the process is complete, arrangements can be made to receive your pet’s cremated remains from Gateway Pet Memorial directly, or from your pet’s regular clinic.

Please speak with a member of the Peaceful Passing Client Care Team to assist you in ordering memorial items.

With communal cremation, your cherished companion will be cremated alongside other beloved pets. When the cremation process is complete, the communal remains are collected and and interred at one of Gateway’s cemeteries nearest you. Since there are no cremated remains returned to you when you choose communal cremation, you may wish to consider purchasing a personalized paw print as a timeless remembrance.

Please speak with a member of Peaceful Passing’s Client Care Team to arrange additional keepsake purchases.

Private aquamation provides you with the opportunity to keep your pet’s remains as a permanent and personal keepsake. When aquamation is complete, our provider will ensure that you receive only the remains of your pet.

Unless an upgraded urn is purchased, your pet’s aquamated remains will be returned in a biodegradable scatter tube, and you will also be offered the option of an ink paw or nose print as well as a hair clipping from your beloved friend.

You will find a number of additional keepsakes such as paw prints, jewelry, and urns offered through our pet aquamation provider. Please ask us for details at the time of scheduling the visit.

When the process is complete, you may receive your pet’s aquamated remains from your pet’s regular clinic or direct pick-up from our aquamation provider can be arranged with prior notice.

If you choose to lay your pet to rest on your own private property, please verify the local regulations in your area. Our veterinarians do not provide assistance with burial preparations.

We want to gently mention that the medications involved in euthanasia are fatal and remain in the body for many months. There is always a concern that they could pose a danger to wildlife, water sources, and other pets. Burial can also be quite challenging and sometimes not even feasible, especially during the winter months. With the ground being frozen, achieving the necessary depth can be difficult and the colder temperatures slow down the decomposition process, which can prolong the typical risks. It is important to be aware of these factors as you consider aftercare options.

What to expect with cremation services

Once the remains of your beloved pet have arrived at Gateway Pet Memorial, completion of the cremation process and delivery of cremains to your regular clinic takes about 7-14 business days.  Many of the beautiful ceramic paw prints can take 4-6 weeks to complete and some custom orders may take longer than this.

Please see the Gateway Pet Memorial’s website for all of the memorial products offered, and speak with our team to receive assistance in ordering these special items.
