Compassionate In-Home Pet Euthanasia in Oshawa

In Home Pet Euthanasia: Providing Compassionate Cat, Dog, and Small Mammal Euthanasia in Oshawa

Oshawa is a city of incredible heart, defined by its blend of historic roots and vibrant natural spaces like Lakeview Park and the Second Marsh Wildlife Area. This landscape has created unique communities, from the historic neighborhoods near Parkwood Estate to the family-friendly areas of North Oshawa. As part of this community, we understand the deep bond you share with your pets. When a beloved pet’s health is failing, we want their final moments to be filled with peace.

Peaceful Passing offers compassionate in home euthanasia services across the entire City of Oshawa. Our goal is to provide a dignified and stress-free farewell for your pet in the comfort of your own home. We bring our gentle veterinary care to you, honouring the bond you share with a respectful and loving goodbye. Our practice exclusively offers compassionate in-home pet euthanasia and aftercare services for small animals.

Dr. Cathy Hooper, our dedicated and highly skilled Oshawa veterinarian, offers a calm, respectful, and private alternative to a clinical visit. We serve the entire City of Oshawa, from the beautiful lakeside to the neighbourhoods along Harmony Creek Trail.

Services Offered

The life you’ve shared with your dog in Oshawa is filled with memories—walks along the Harmony Creek Trail, playing at Lakeview Park, or quiet evenings at home. When their health declines, the decision to consider dog euthanasia is a difficult but loving choice to end their pain. It is a final act of devotion to a loyal friend. Our service for putting a dog to sleep at home allows your companion to be in their favourite bed, surrounded by familiar sights and smells, with their family close by. It avoids the anxiety of a clinic visit and allows their last moments to be calm and full of love, a farewell worthy of the joy they’ve brought you.

Cats cherish the comfort and safety of their own territory. For a cat who is unwell, the journey to a vet’s office can be a source of fear and anxiety. In-home euthanasia is a dignified farewell that honours the special place your cat holds in your family.

Sometimes, our pets pass away suddenly and without warning. Peaceful Passing can help ease this difficult time by arranging aftercare and transporting your pet to our cremation partner.  For Assistance, please fill out this form.

Choosing your aftercare is a personal choice. We offer cremation as well as memorial items such as paw prints, urns, jewelry, and other keepsakes.

Not sure if it’s time yet? Understanding your pet’s medical condition is crucial, but it’s also important to consider how you and your loved ones want to spend your pet’s last days together. We can help by assessing your pet’s quality-of-life and providing guidance during this difficult process.

After your pet’s passing, we handle all the details of their aftercare with compassion. We work with trusted partners to provide dignified cremation services, ensuring your pet is treated with reverence every step of the way.

You can choose the option that best suits your family’s wishes:

  • Communal Cremation: Your pet is gently cremated with other pets, and their ashes are buried in a respectful manner.

Our team will manage the transportation of your pet, allowing you to focus on remembering the wonderful life you shared. If you are searching for pet euthanasia near me in Oshawa, please know our compassionate team is here to help.

Our gentle Process: What to expect

Our promise is to create a serene and supportive experience for your family. When we arrive, we will guide you through the process. A sedative is given first to ensure your pet falls into a deep and comfortable sleep, free from any pain. Once your pet is fully sedated and your family has said their goodbyes, the final injection is administered to allow them to pass away peacefully. The entire process is humane and designed to feel like a gentle transition.

frequently asked questions

The cost for the visit will vary depending on the size of your pet, the distance driven, and other factors such as the need for additional time or medications. The in-home euthanasia service includes the veterinary visit to your home, a brief assessment, and the sedation & euthanasia procedure. Additionally, based on your aftercare selection, the cost may include, cremation, transportation, and keepsakes.

It’s completely natural to question if the time is right. If you need additional clarity, you may find our Quality-of-Life Tool helpful, or you may wish to pursue a Quality-of-life assessment with one of our trusted veterinarians for further guidance.

Should you schedule a euthanasia with us, our veterinarian will briefly assess your companion upon arrival. If they feel euthanasia is not the most appropriate path at this time, they will discuss this openly and honestly with you.

We understand this is a tender time. Your veterinarian will be present in your home for 30-60 minutes, allowing ample space and time for you to say goodbye and be with your companion in a way that feels most comfortable and peaceful.

During your appointment, the vet will confirm your aftercare selection. If you opt for cremation services, the vet will handle your pet’s transportation from your home and will care for your pet’s body until they are respectfully transferred to the appointed aftercare provider.

Peaceful Passing’s priority is to accommodate our patients and we can usually have a veterinarian available for same day emergency visits. However, Peaceful Passing is not a 24 hour emergency service. If this is a serious emergency, we recommend contacting your regular veterinary clinic or the nearest veterinary emergency facility.
