A Loving Goodbye for Your Dog in Markham
From walks around Toogood Pond to lazy afternoons in the garden, your dog has been a central part of your family’s life. When the time comes to say goodbye, dog euthanasia at home allows them to pass peacefully in the place they know best. There is no anxiety from a car ride or a waiting room—just the comfort of home and the soothing presence of the people who love them.
A Peaceful Passing for Your Cat
For a cat, there is no place like home. The sights, smells, and sounds of their own environment provide a sense of security that a clinic cannot match. Our gentle Process: What to expect
A Peaceful Passing starts with a calm and supportive environment. When our veterinarian arrives at your Makham home, she will walk you through the process and answer any questions you have. There is never a rush. We give you all the time you need to say goodbye in a way that feels right for you and your family.
The procedure involves two gentle injections. The first is a sedative to help your pet fall into a deep, peaceful sleep, so they won’t feel any discomfort. Once your pet is fully relaxed and you are ready, the final medication is given, which allows them to pass away gracefully. It is a humane and gentle process, designed to feel like quietly drifting off to sleep.

frequently asked questions
What is included in the cost?
The cost for the visit will vary depending on the size of your pet, the distance driven, and other factors such as the need for additional time or medications. The in-home euthanasia service includes the veterinary visit to your home, a brief assessment, and the sedation & euthanasia procedure. Additionally, based on your aftercare selection, the cost may include, cremation or aquamation, transportation, and keepsakes.
Will you assess my pet upon arrival?
It’s completely natural to question if the time is right. If you need additional clarity, you may find our Quality-of-Life Tool helpful, or you may wish to pursue a Quality-of-life assessment with one of our trusted veterinarians for further guidance.
Should you schedule a euthanasia with us, our veterinarian will briefly assess your companion upon arrival and see if you have any questions. If they feel euthanasia is not the most appropriate path at this time, they will discuss this openly and honestly with you.
How long does the appointment take?
We understand this is a tender time. Your veterinarian will be present in your home for 30-60 minutes, allowing ample space and time for you to say goodbye and be with your companion in a way that feels most comfortable and peaceful.
Will the vet take my pet with them after the appointment?
During your appointment, the vet will confirm your aftercare selection. If you opt for cremation services, the vet will handle your pet’s transportation from your home and will care for your pet’s body until they are respectfully transferred to the appointed aftercare provider.
Are you available for emergencies?
Peaceful Passing’s priority is to accommodate our patients and we can usually have a veterinarian available for same day emergency visits. However, Peaceful Passing is not a 24 hour emergency service. If this is a serious emergency, we recommend contacting your regular veterinary clinic or the nearest veterinary emergency facility.
What Pet Parents are Saying
Posted on Google Anya ArcherTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Suzanne put us at ease during a very difficult time for our family. She was extremely respectful, giving us the space we needed to say goodbye, and left us feeling at peace knowing that our Rusty was in good hands. While no pet owner wants to think about this point in their pet’s life, it is an inevitability and we are grateful that we had Peaceful Passing to support us.Posted on Google FeliciaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. These reviews are not easy to make, because how can saying goodbye to your fury family member be positive. However, Dr Brooke Manderson deserves recognition for her calm, compassionate and sympathetic demeanor. The company was so easy to work with, with same day availability. They truly have such a hard job helping families help their furbabies cross the rainbow bridge but they all do it with grace. Thank you again.Posted on Google Emma SimpsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From the very first form we completed, we were treated with such compassion, kindness, and understanding by Peaceful Passing. During one of the most heartbreaking moments our family has ever experienced, Dr. Cindy made an incredibly difficult goodbye feel peaceful, gentle, and filled with love. Dr. Cindy was truly amazing. She took the time to explain Phoebe’s care with such patience and compassion, making sure we understood everything and felt supported throughout the process. What meant so much to us was the kindness and tenderness she showed not only to Phoebe, but also to my daughter during such an emotional and heartbreaking time. Phoebe was so much more than a dog. She was a loving presence in our lives, a faithful companion, a source of comfort, and a beautiful little soul who made our days brighter simply by being in them. She gave us a lifetime of unconditional love, joyful moments, gentle companionship, and memories we will carry in our hearts forever. Our home feels a little quieter without her, and our hearts a little heavier. We are so grateful for every cuddle, every wagging tail, every silly moment, and every precious day we were lucky enough to share with our beautiful girl. Thank you, Dr. Cindy, for helping us give Phoebe such a peaceful and loving goodbye. Your compassion will stay with our family forever, and we will always be grateful for the care you gave her and for the kindness you showed us. Run free, sweet Phoebe. May you be surrounded by sunshine, endless fields to explore, and, most importantly, all the toys you could ever want in heaven. Until we meet again, you will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever a part of our family. Rest peacefully, our beautiful girl.Posted on Google HalloWTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We want to express our thanks and gratitude to Ashleigh, Laura and Dr.Cindy at Peaceful Passing for their patience, support and upmost service when we had to send our beloved 13yrs old cat Keira on Friday. The crew was so responsive and patient with me and my family as we navigated this very difficult episode in our lives. Dr Cindy was very gentle, warm and supportive that made Keira’s passing so much more relaxed and comfortable. Home euthanasia is the best decision I made, letting your beloved pet family leave in their most familiar and loving environment, and allowing us to truly take our time to spend the last moments with her.Posted on Google Marcia MarchioriTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are incredibly grateful to the entire Peaceful Passing team, especially Laura and Dr. Suzanne, for the compassion, kindness, and care they showed to our beloved Oreo and to us during one of the most difficult moments of our lives. Saying goodbye to our almost 17-year-old boy was heartbreaking, but they made his final moments peaceful, gentle, and filled with dignity and love. From the very beginning, we felt that Oreo was treated with the same tenderness and respect we would have given him ourselves. Their support made an unbearable moment a bit easier, and we will always be thankful that they helped us give Oreo the peaceful goodbye he deserved. I cannot say enough good things about Peaceful Passing. We knew it was time to let our Simon go. Everything from the initial contact to saying good bye was perfect and peaceful. Peaceful Passing and the individuals who work there, make this time meaningful and peaceful despite how difficult and challenging it is. Dr. Shanna was fabulous - she was understanding, kind and patient. Thank you so much for making Simon’s passing stress free for him. It really was the best way to honour and say goodbye to our Simon.Posted on Google Natasha CarterTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had to say goodbye to our beloved 19-year-old cat, Molson, today. He has been part of our family since my kids were babies, so making the decision to let him go was incredibly difficult. Dr. Dailley from Peaceful Passing was absolutely wonderful. She never rushed us, explained everything thoroughly, and made sure we were comfortable and ready every step of the way. Even when doubt crept in and the tears were flowing, she reassured us that Molson was ready and that we were making the right decision for him. I was honestly skeptical about having this done in our home, but I would never do it any other way now. Molson was completely relaxed in his own home, surrounded by the people who loved him. He was even purring until he peacefully fell asleep. There was no scary car ride, unfamiliar place, or antiseptic smells—Dr. Dailley was simply like a guest in our home, quietly guiding us through an incredibly difficult moment. From the very first phone call, the staff were kind and compassionate, even when I could barely speak through my tears. They responded within the timeframe promised on their website and got us in as soon as possible. Faced with an impossible, heartbreaking decision, this was the best decision I could have made in a no-win situation. Dr. Dailley made a terrible experience as peaceful and tolerable as it could possibly be. This is a premium service, and I would pay for it every single time. I have already recommended Peaceful Passing to our family and friends, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone facing the heartbreaking loss of a beloved pet. Thank you, Dr. Dailley, for giving our Molson such a peaceful goodbye. ❤️Posted on Google Marlene ThompsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing supportPosted on Google s sTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely wonderful experience during such a difficult time. Laura coordinated everything very efficiently in a short period of time on a holiday no less. Dr. Suzanne was incredible and we are very thankful for their efforts as this happened rather quickly. Would highly recommend.Posted on Google Erica NedelkoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our inquiry was answered in a very timely manner and an appointment was made to accommodate our needs and match our schedule. Dr Suzanne arrived at our home with a peaceful calm and explained the unfolding of what was to take place and answered our questions with compassion and reassurance. We actually needed an extra few minutes to settle our emotions and she kindly gave us space until I went to let her know we were ready. We (adults and children) all felt heard and while we were all so very sad the time had come that we had to say our goodbyes to our beloved cat, we knew we had made the right choice and decision for our cat’s end-of-life care with Dr Suzanne. She let us know what she was doing as she helped us say goodbye. Although it happens rather quickly, we were not hurried and given all the time we needed. A sweet basket was brought to carry our dear cat away. Of course there is a bit of paper work to review at the beginning and that was done with little disruption as possible, ensuring nothing would interrupt once we entered the sacred space of saying goodbye. While we hope not to have to go through this process again, we do love our pets and if and when we have this privilege again to help our pet(s) cross that rainbow bridge, we will be calling Dr Suzanne.
