In Home Pet Euthanasia: Providing Compassionate Cat and Dog Euthanasia in Hamilton

Compassionate In-Home Pet Euthanasia in Hamilton

Hamilton is a city of incredible heart, defined by the beautiful Niagara Escarpment and the shores of Lake Ontario. This landscape has created so many unique communities, from the historic towns of Stoney Creek, Ancaster and Dundas to the family neighbourhoods on the ‘Mountain’, near McMaster and throughout the vibrant downtown. As Hamiltonians, we have a deep appreciation for our strong community roots.

When a beloved pet’s health is failing, we want their final moments to be filled with peace. Peaceful Passing offers compassionate in home euthanasia services across the entire City of Hamilton. Our goal is to provide a dignified and stress-free farewell for your pet in the comfort of your own home. We bring our gentle veterinary care to you, honouring the bond you share with a respectful and loving goodbye.

Dr. Suzanne Gallant is our primary mobile veterinarian dedicated to serving the city of Hamilton as well as Grimsby, Ancaster, Dundas, Flamborough, Glanbrook, and Stoney Creek. Peaceful Passing was established in 2015 to ensure that our loved ones’ final moments are spent in their favourite place, surrounded by the people they love.

Services Offered

Your dog has been your companion on countless adventures in Hamilton, whether hiking the Bruce Trail or just relaxing at home. When the time comes to consider dog euthanasia, we know it’s a decision made from love and a desire to end their suffering.

Our service for putting a dog to sleep at home means you can skip a final, stressful car ride. Your loyal friend can pass away peacefully in their favourite spot—their bed, the backyard, or right beside you—surrounded by the family who loves them. We ensure the process is handled with the utmost compassion, providing a dignified farewell for your cherished companion.

Cats find their greatest comfort in the familiar and secure space of their own home. For a cat in declining health, the anxiety of a clinic visit can be overwhelming. Our cat euthanasia service in Hamilton is designed to honour their need for a calm and peaceful environment.

We conduct our visit with quiet sensitivity, allowing your cat to remain wherever they feel most secure—on your lap, in a cozy bed, or in a favourite sunbeam. This gentle and unhurried approach ensures their final moments are filled with warmth and love, not fear. It is a peaceful goodbye that respects the quiet dignity of your beloved friend.

Sometimes, our pets pass away suddenly and without warning. Peaceful Passing can help ease this difficult time by arranging aftercare and transporting your pet to our cremation or aquamation partner.  For Assistance, please fill out this form.

Choosing your aftercare is a personal choice. We offer cremation and aquamation as well as memorial items such as paw prints, urns, jewelry, and other keepsakes.

Not sure if it’s time yet? Understanding your pet’s medical condition is crucial, but it’s also important to consider how you and your loved ones want to spend your pet’s last days together. We can help by assessing your pet’s quality-of-life and providing guidance during this difficult process.

Start The Quality-of-life assessment tool

Our Pet Quality-of-Life Scale offers a gentle guide to help you assess your beloved companion’s well-being. It provides a compassionate and objective perspective of their quality-of-life, complementing the advice of your trusted veterinarian. Together, these resources ensure that your decisions are rooted in your pet’s best interest and comfort.

Our Aftercare Options

After your pet has passed, we continue to provide support by managing all aftercare arrangements with dignity. We partner with trusted local professionals to offer respectful cremation services, handling every detail according to your wishes.

You may choose the option that feels right for you:

  • Communal Cremation: Your pet is cremated with other cherished pets, and their ashes are scattered respectfully.

  • Private Cremation: Your pet is cremated individually, and their ashes are carefully returned to you in an urn of your choice as a timeless memorial.

We will handle the transportation of your pet with reverence, giving you space to grieve and remember the life you shared. If you are looking for compassionate pet euthanasia in Hamilton, our team is here to help.

What to expect:

Our promise is to create a serene and supportive experience for your family. When our veterinarian arrives at your Hamilton home, she will begin by explaining the process and answering all of your questions. We proceed at your family’s pace, ensuring you have all the time you need for your final moments together.

The procedure consists of two injections. The first is a sedative that allows your pet to drift into a deep and comfortable sleep, free from any pain. Once your pet is fully sedated and your family has said their goodbyes, the final injection is administered to allow them to pass away peacefully. The entire process is humane and designed to feel like a gentle transition.

frequently asked questions

The cost for the visit will vary depending on the size of your pet, the distance driven, and other factors such as the need for additional time or medications. The in-home euthanasia service includes the veterinary visit to your home, a brief assessment, and the sedation & euthanasia procedure. Additionally, based on your aftercare selection, the cost may include, cremation or aquamation, transportation, and keepsakes.

It’s completely natural to question if the time is right. If you need additional clarity, you may find our Quality-of-Life Tool helpful, or you may wish to pursue a Quality-of-life assessment with one of our trusted veterinarians for further guidance.Should you schedule a euthanasia with us, our veterinarian will compassionately assess your companion upon arrival. If they feel euthanasia is not the most appropriate path at this time, they will discuss this openly and honestly with you.

We understand this is a tender time. Your veterinarian will be present in your home for 20-60 minutes, allowing ample space and time for you to say goodbye and be with your companion in a way that feels most comfortable and peaceful.

During your appointment, the vet will confirm your aftercare selection. If you opt for cremation or aquamation services, the vet will handle your pet’s transportation from your home and will care for your pet’s body until they are respectfully transferred to the appointed aftercare provider.

Peaceful Passing’s priority is to accommodate our patients and we can usually have a veterinarian available for same day emergency visits. However, Peaceful Passing is not a 24 hour emergency service. If this is a serious emergency, we recommend contacting your regular veterinary clinic or the nearest veterinary emergency facility.
