Compassionate In-Home Pet Euthanasia in Cambridge

The City of Cambridge is a special place, made up of the proud and distinct communities of Galt, Preston, and Hespeler. This unique heritage gives our city deep roots and a strong sense of identity. We cherish the history of our neighbourhoods and the beauty of the Grand and Speed Rivers that flow through them. This connection to home is something our pets share with us.

When a cherished pet is facing the end of their life, we want their final moments to be filled with the same comfort they’ve always known. Peaceful Passing offers compassionate in home euthanasia services throughout all the communities of Cambridge. Our goal is to provide a dignified and stress-free farewell in the privacy of your home, honouring the deep bond your family has with your pet.

Dr. Susan Dailley, Dr Shanna Clinch, Dr. Meredith Geldart, and Dr. Kirsten Graham, are our four dedicated mobile veterinarians serving Cambridge, Ayr, Puslinch and area. Peaceful Passing was established in 2015 to ensure that our loved ones’ final moments are spent in their favourite place, surrounded by the people they love.

Services Offered

Your dog has been a constant in your life, a source of joy and companionship. When their health fails, the decision to choose dog euthanasia is a final, selfless act of mercy to end their pain. It is a decision made from a place of profound love.

Our service for putting a dog to sleep at home allows your companion to remain in the place they know and love best. They can rest in their own bed or a favourite spot in the yard, surrounded by family, avoiding the stress of a clinic. We are committed to providing a farewell that is as peaceful and loving as the life you have shared.

Cats are creatures of comfort who find immense security in their home. For a cat in declining health, leaving home for a vet visit can be incredibly stressful. Our cat euthanasia service in Cambridge is designed to honour their need for a calm, familiar, and peaceful setting.

Our veterinarian will conduct the visit with quiet sensitivity, allowing your cat to stay wherever they are most comfortable—be it your lap, a soft blanket, or a sunlit windowsill. This gentle approach ensures their final moments are filled with love and serenity, not fear. It is a dignified passing that respects the special bond you share.

Sometimes, our pets pass away suddenly and without warning. Peaceful Passing can help ease this difficult time by arranging aftercare and transporting your pet to our cremation or aquamation partner. For Assistance, please fill out this form.

Choosing your aftercare is a personal choice. We offer cremation and aquamation as well as memorial items such as paw prints, urns, jewelry, and other keepsakes.

Not sure if it’s time yet? Understanding your pet’s medical condition is crucial, but it’s also important to consider how you and your loved ones want to spend your pet’s last days together. We can help by assessing your pet’s quality-of-life and providing guidance during this difficult process.

Our Pet Quality-of-Life Scale offers a gentle guide to help you assess your beloved companion’s well-being. It provides a compassionate and objective perspective of their quality-of-life, complementing the advice of your trusted veterinarian. Together, these resources ensure that your decisions are rooted in your pet’s best interest and comfort.

Cremation and Aftercare Services in Cambridge

After your pet has passed, we continue to support you by handling all aftercare arrangements with care and respect. We work with trusted local partners to provide professional creation services that honour your pet and your family’s wishes.

You may choose from several options:

  • Communal Cremation: Your pet is cremated with other beloved pets, and their ashes are scattered respectfully in a dedicated place.

  • Private Cremation: Your pet is cremated individually, and their ashes are returned to you in a memorial urn as a lasting tribute to the life you shared.

We will manage the transportation of your pet with the utmost dignity, allowing you to focus on your memories. For families in Cambridge seeking compassionate pet euthanasia, our team is here to help.

Our Gentle Process: What to expect

Our mission is to create a supportive and peaceful experience. When our veterinarian arrives at your Cambridge home, she will take the time to explain the process clearly and answer all your questions. We move at your pace, giving you the private, unhurried time you need to say goodbye.

The procedure itself involves two gentle injections. The first is a sedative that allows your pet to drift into a deep, peaceful sleep, free from any discomfort or anxiety. Once your pet is fully relaxed and you are ready, the final medication is administered, allowing them to pass away quickly and gracefully. The entire process is humane and designed to feel like a quiet, gentle transition.

frequently asked questions

The cost for the visit will vary depending on the size of your pet, the distance driven, and other factors such as the need for additional time or medications. The in-home euthanasia service includes the veterinary visit to your home, a brief assessment, and the sedation & euthanasia procedure. Additionally, based on your aftercare selection, the cost may include, cremation or aquamation, transportation, and keepsakes.

It’s completely natural to question if the time is right. If you need additional clarity, you may find our Quality-of-Life Tool helpful, or you may wish to pursue a Quality-of-life assessment with one of our trusted veterinarians for further guidance.

Should you schedule a euthanasia with us, our veterinarian will compassionately assess your companion upon arrival. If they feel euthanasia is not the most appropriate path at this time, they will discuss this openly and honestly with you.

We understand this is a tender time. Your veterinarian will be present in your home for 20-60 minutes, allowing ample space and time for you to say goodbye and be with your companion in a way that feels most comfortable and peaceful.

During your appointment, the vet will confirm your aftercare selection. If you opt for cremation or aquamation services, the vet will handle your pet’s transportation from your home and will care for your pet’s body until they are respectfully transferred to the appointed aftercare provider.

Peaceful Passing’s priority is to accommodate our patients and we can usually have a veterinarian available for same day emergency visits. However, Peaceful Passing is not a 24 hour emergency service. If this is a serious emergency, we recommend contacting your regular veterinary clinic or the nearest veterinary emergency facility.
