Services Offered

From walks around Toogood Pond to lazy afternoons in the garden, your dog has been a central part of your family’s life. When the time comes to say goodbye, dog euthanasia  at home allows them to pass peacefully in the place they know best. There is no anxiety from a car ride or a waiting room—just the comfort of home and the soothing presence of the people who love them.

For a cat, there is no place like home. The sights, smells, and sounds of their own environment provide a sense of security that a clinic cannot match. Our in-home euthanasia service is designed to honor this. Dr. Cathy Hooper conducts the appointment with quiet respect, allowing your cat to remain in their favorite hiding spot or resting place, ensuring their final moments are calm and serene.

Our gentle Process: What to expect

A Peaceful Passing starts with a calm and supportive environment. When our veterinarian arrives at your Makham home, she will walk you through the process and answer any questions you have. There is never a rush. We give you all the time you need to say goodbye in a way that feels right for you and your family.

The procedure involves two gentle injections. The first is a sedative to help your pet fall into a deep, peaceful sleep, so they won’t feel any discomfort. Once your pet is fully relaxed and you are ready, the final medication is given, which allows them to pass away gracefully. It is a humane and gentle process, designed to feel like quietly drifting off to sleep.

frequently asked questions

The cost for the visit will vary depending on the size of your pet, the distance driven, and other factors such as the need for additional time or medications. The in-home euthanasia service includes the veterinary visit to your home, a brief assessment, and the sedation & euthanasia procedure. Additionally, based on your aftercare selection, the cost may include, cremation or aquamation, transportation, and keepsakes.

It’s completely natural to question if the time is right. If you need additional clarity, you may find our Quality-of-Life Tool helpful, or you may wish to pursue a Quality-of-life assessment with one of our trusted veterinarians for further guidance.

Should you schedule a euthanasia with us, our veterinarian will briefly assess your companion upon arrival and see if you have any questions. If they feel euthanasia is not the most appropriate path at this time, they will discuss this openly and honestly with you.

We understand this is a tender time. Your veterinarian will be present in your home for 30-60 minutes, allowing ample space and time for you to say goodbye and be with your companion in a way that feels most comfortable and peaceful.

During your appointment, the vet will confirm your aftercare selection. If you opt for cremation services, the vet will handle your pet’s transportation from your home and will care for your pet’s body until they are respectfully transferred to the appointed aftercare provider.

Peaceful Passing’s priority is to accommodate our patients and we can usually have a veterinarian available for same day emergency visits. However, Peaceful Passing is not a 24 hour emergency service. If this is a serious emergency, we recommend contacting your regular veterinary clinic or the nearest veterinary emergency facility.
