Ajax Pet Euthanasia: Peaceful In-Home Pet Euthanasia

Peaceful Passing: Providing Compassionate dog, cat, and small mammal Euthanasia in Ajax

Ajax is a community defined by its connection to the water and its vibrant, family-oriented neighbourhoods. From the serene stretches of the waterfront along Lake Ontario to the quiet, tree-lined streets of North Ajax near Greenwood, this is a place where families grow and memories are made. At Peaceful Passing, we understand that our pets are central to those memories. When a beloved companion’s health begins to fail, the prospect of saying goodbye can feel overwhelming. We are here to ensure that this difficult transition is met with dignity, love, and peace.

Our Compassionate In-Home Services in Ajax:

Peaceful Passing offers compassionate in-home pet euthanasia services across the Town of Ajax. Our goal is to provide a stress-free farewell in the sanctuary of your own home, away from the clinical sights and sounds of a veterinary office. We bring gentle veterinary care directly to your door, honouring the unique bond you share with your pet. Our certified Peaceful Euthanasia Veterinarian, Dr. Cathy Hooper, serves Ajax and the surrounding Durham Region, ensuring your loved one’s final moments are spent in their favourite place, with the people who matter most.

Services Offered

The life you’ve shared with your dog in Ajax is filled with cherished moments—perhaps brisk walks along the Rotary Park waterfront, exploring the winding trails at Greenwood Conservation Area, or simply relaxing in your backyard watching the squirrels. When their health declines, the decision to consider dog euthanasia is a heartbreaking but loving choice to end their suffering.

Our service for putting a dog to sleep at home allows your companion to be in their favourite bed, surrounded by familiar sights and smells, with their family close by. It avoids the anxiety of a clinic visit and allows their last moments to be calm and full of love, a farewell worthy of the joy they’ve brought you.

Cats are deeply attached to their territory and find their greatest comfort in the safety of their own home. For a cat who is unwell, the journey to a vet’s office can be a source of significant stress and fear. Our cat euthanasia service in Ajax is designed to respect your cat’s need for a peaceful, familiar environment. We conduct our visit with quiet sensitivity, allowing your cat to rest on your lap, in a warm sunbeam, or wherever they feel most content. This gentle approach ensures their final moments are filled with warmth and love, not fear. It is a dignified farewell that honours the special place your cat holds in your family.

Sometimes, our pets pass away suddenly and without warning. Peaceful Passing can help ease this difficult time by arranging aftercare and transporting your pet to our cremation partner. We handle all logistics with the utmost reverence, ensuring that you do not have to worry about the details during your time of grief.  For Assistance, please fill out this form.

Choosing your aftercare is a personal choice. We offer cremation as well as memorial items such as paw prints, urns, jewelry, and other keepsakes.

Our gentle Process: What to expect

A Peaceful Passing starts with a calm and supportive environment. When our veterinarian arrives at your Ajax home, she will walk you through the process and answer any questions you have. There is never a rush. We give you all the time you need to say goodbye in a way that feels right for you and your family.

The procedure involves two gentle injections. The first is a sedative to help your pet fall into a deep, peaceful sleep, so they won’t feel any discomfort. Once your pet is fully relaxed and you are ready, the final medication is given, which allows them to pass away gracefully. It is a humane and gentle process, designed to feel like quietly drifting off to sleep.

frequently asked questions

The cost for the visit will vary depending on the size of your pet, the distance driven, and other factors such as the need for additional time or medications. The in-home euthanasia service includes the veterinary visit to your home, a brief assessment, and the sedation & euthanasia procedure. Additionally, based on your aftercare selection, the cost may include, cremation or aquamation, transportation, and keepsakes.

It’s completely natural to question if the time is right. If you need additional clarity, you may find our Quality-of-Life Tool helpful, or you may wish to pursue a Quality-of-life assessment with one of our trusted veterinarians for further guidance.

Should you schedule a euthanasia with us, our veterinarian will briefly assess your companion upon arrival and see if you have any questions. If they feel euthanasia is not the most appropriate path at this time, they will discuss this openly and honestly with you.

We understand this is a tender time. Your veterinarian will be present in your home for 30-60 minutes, allowing ample space and time for you to say goodbye and be with your companion in a way that feels most comfortable and peaceful.

During your appointment, the vet will confirm your aftercare selection. If you opt for cremation services, the vet will handle your pet’s transportation from your home and will care for your pet’s body until they are respectfully transferred to the appointed aftercare provider.

Peaceful Passing’s priority is to accommodate our patients and we can usually have a veterinarian available for same day emergency visits. However, Peaceful Passing is not a 24 hour emergency service. If this is a serious emergency, we recommend contacting your regular veterinary clinic or the nearest veterinary emergency facility.
