Virtual and In-Home Quality-of-Life Assessments
Not sure if it’s time yet? Understanding your pet’s medical condition is crucial, but it’s also important to consider how you and your loved ones want to spend your pet’s last days together. We can help by assessing your pet’s quality-of-life and providing guidance during this difficult process.

Start The Quality-of-life assessment tool
Our Pet Quality-of-Life Scale offers a gentle guide to help you assess your beloved companion’s well-being. It provides a compassionate and objective perspective on their quality-of-life, complementing the advice of your trusted veterinarian. Together, these resources ensure your decisions are rooted in your pet’s best interests and comfort.
Our Aftercare Options

What to expect:
Upon Arrival
Sedation
During Sedation
This is the time for you to get in your final snuggles and kisses as your cherished companion becomes drowsy or drifts off to sleep.
Euthanasia
In the final step of euthanasia, a compassionate approach is taken to ensure that your beloved pet experiences a peaceful transition. A carefully administered injection is gently given, allowing your cherished companion to gracefully and painlessly embrace a restful departure from this world.
After your pet has passed
The veterinarian will give you as much time as you need to say goodbye to your cherished companion.
A fur clipping can be requested before your pet departs from your home.
Aftercare
After you have had a chance to say goodbye to your pet, your Peaceful Passing veterinarian will assist in carrying your pet to their vehicle. They will wrap your pet in a blanket, towel, or sheet that you have provided. Larger pets will be carried on a hand-held stretcher to provide support. We will request the assistance of at least one other strong individual at the home for pets weighing over 30 lbs. Your pet will be cared for by your Peaceful Passing veterinarian until they are transferred to the care of one of our aftercare providers (cremation or aquamation). Rest assured that your pet’s body will be treated with dignity and respect during their aftercare journey. Should you wish to deliver your pet to one of our aftercare providers directly, this can be arranged with advance notice. Please mention this to our Peaceful Passing Client Care Team and we will be happy to assist. Your comfort is very important to us.
Memorialization
If you have chosen cremation or aquamation for your pet’s aftercare, and if you have indicated that you are interested in purchasing a memorial product (urn, paw print, or other keepsake), we will assist you in purchasing your selections either over the phone, by email, or by providing online access to a private portal. All paw/nose print selections must be made before your pet is cremated or aquamated.

frequently asked questions
What is included in the cost?
The cost for the visit will vary depending on the size of your pet, the distance driven, and other factors such as the need for additional time or medications. The in-home euthanasia service includes the veterinary visit to your home, a brief assessment, and the sedation & euthanasia procedure. Additionally, based on your aftercare selection, the cost may include, cremation or aquamation, transportation, and keepsakes.
Will you assess my pet upon arrival?
How long does the appointment take?
We understand this is a tender time. Your veterinarian will be present in your home for 20-60 minutes, allowing ample space and time for you to say goodbye and be with your companion in a way that feels most comfortable and peaceful.
Will the vet take my pet with them after the appointment?
During your appointment, the vet will confirm your aftercare selection. If you opt for cremation or aquamation services, the vet will handle your pet’s transportation from your home and will care for your pet’s body until they are respectfully transferred to the appointed aftercare provider.
Are you available for emergencies?
Peaceful Passing’s priority is to accommodate our patients and we can usually have a veterinarian available for same day emergency visits. However, Peaceful Passing is not a 24 hour emergency service. If this is a serious emergency, we recommend contacting your regular veterinary clinic or the nearest veterinary emergency facility.

I can’t say enough how kind and compassionate Dr. Suzanne was when she came to our home for our sweet cat Bates. She gave us time with him. She interacted so kindly with him. She gave us time to give our dog time to say goodbye afterward and very carefully wrapped our Bates in a blanket and basket to carry him out. As difficult a decision it was, I am so glad he was able to be home and on his bed when he passed. She reassured us that our decision was our last act of love for our beloved cat. She reached out to us after and checked in on how we were doing which was appreciated. Thank you for the services you provide but more importantly how you provide them. A kind and compassionate staff and all I deal with did more than necessary but it was so appreciated. Thank you again Nicole and TomPosted on Shawn JamalTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had Dr. Kirsten from peaceful passing visit me this week to help my cat pass. They were also recommended by my vet at woodlawn vet hospital. She was incredibly professional, nice and helpful. You can tell she is experienced, confident and knew what she was doing - no fiddling around, stuttering, confusion and gave us time and space when we needed it. My cat passed peacefully without any fuss, confusion or visible pain - but she did make us aware of any potential reactions that may arise beforehand. Andrea who helped me book the appointment was also incredibly helpful, patient and understanding. We talked over the phone and via email. This was all scheduled at 6pm for a noon visit the next day. I'd recommend them in a heartbeatPosted on Agnes LucibelloTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t say enough about Peaceful Passing and Doctor Shannah’s assistance with our beloved Loki. They were kind and caring in all their communication before and after Loki’s passing. Doctor Shannah was beyond amazing and helped us get through it all. I would highly recommend them to anyone who has the most difficult decision to make end of life arrangements for their fur baby. Thank you so much for your services The LucibellosPosted on Christine MironTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you to Dr Shanna for the compassionate care for our beloved Doris this evening. They were able to change the appointment date and come last minute as Doris had declined quickly. They responded to all my emails very fast. And the experience of saying goodbye to her in our own home was worth every penny. It was very peaceful. My youngest who just turned 7, had many many questions as she has never experienced a loss before. Sr Shanna answered everything in an age appropriate, empathetic way. She listened to all of us tell her about Doris. She gave us all the time we needed every step of the way. I’ll never forget the kindness. Thank you. We will miss you forever Doris. ❤️Posted on Patti AndrazaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr Suzanne Gallant was so professional, caring, patient and compassionate. She was very adept in effectively managing a highly emotional situation with all our family members. We’re so grateful she was a part of our family’s journey as we said goodbye to our beloved Beans. Thank you so much Suzanne, as much as we’ll always remember such a difficult day, your kindness will also never be forgotten.Posted on Dave TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Saying good bye to my best friend Brutus was the hardest moment of my life. Calling around to make the arrangements was stressful, frustrating, and painful - until I contacted the team at Peaceful Passing - from that moment on, the prompt, compassionate responses and support were unbelievable, taking away all unnecessary stress and anxiety that would have accompanied a trip to the vet. Dr. Shanna Clinch arrived as discussed, explained the process, what to expect, and was extremely supportive throughout the visit, ensuring that I was making the right decision. This was carried out beautifully, allowing me to hold Brutus in his final moments, in his favorite place, surrounded by loved ones. It hurts more than I can articulate, but I can find peace knowing that this was THE best decision, and I cannot thank the team enough. I will be forever grateful.
