A Gentle Farewell for Your Dog in Hamilton
Your dog has been your companion on countless adventures in Hamilton, whether hiking the Bruce Trail or just relaxing at home. When the time comes to consider dog euthanasia, we know it’s a decision made from love and a desire to end their suffering.
Our service for putting a dog to sleep at home means you can skip a final, stressful car ride. Your loyal friend can pass away peacefully in their favourite spot—their bed, the backyard, or right beside you—surrounded by the family who loves them. We ensure the process is handled with the utmost compassion, providing a dignified farewell for your cherished companion.
A Peaceful Passing for Your Cat
Cats find their greatest comfort in the familiar and secure space of their own home. For a cat in declining health, the anxiety of a clinic visit can be overwhelming. Our cat euthanasia service in Hamilton is designed to honour their need for a calm and peaceful environment.
We conduct our visit with quiet sensitivity, allowing your cat to remain wherever they feel most secure—on your lap, in a cozy bed, or in a favourite sunbeam. This gentle and unhurried approach ensures their final moments are filled with warmth and love, not fear. It is a peaceful goodbye that respects the quiet dignity of your beloved friend.

Aftercare, Paw Prints, Urns and Memorial Items
Choosing your aftercare is a personal choice. We offer cremation and aquamation as well as memorial items such as paw prints, urns, jewelry, and other keepsakes.
Virtual and In-Home Quality-of-Life Assessments
Not sure if it’s time yet? Understanding your pet’s medical condition is crucial, but it’s also important to consider how you and your loved ones want to spend your pet’s last days together. We can help by assessing your pet’s quality-of-life and providing guidance during this difficult process.

Start The Quality-of-life assessment tool
Our Pet Quality-of-Life Scale offers a gentle guide to help you assess your beloved companion’s well-being. It provides a compassionate and objective perspective of their quality-of-life, complementing the advice of your trusted veterinarian. Together, these resources ensure that your decisions are rooted in your pet’s best interest and comfort.
Our Aftercare Options
After your pet has passed, we continue to provide support by managing all aftercare arrangements with dignity. We partner with trusted local professionals to offer respectful cremation services, handling every detail according to your wishes.
You may choose the option that feels right for you:
Communal Cremation: Your pet is cremated with other cherished pets, and their ashes are scattered respectfully.
Private Cremation: Your pet is cremated individually, and their ashes are carefully returned to you in an urn of your choice as a timeless memorial.
We will handle the transportation of your pet with reverence, giving you space to grieve and remember the life you shared. If you are looking for compassionate pet euthanasia in Hamilton, our team is here to help.

What to expect:
Our promise is to create a serene and supportive experience for your family. When our veterinarian arrives at your Hamilton home, she will begin by explaining the process and answering all of your questions. We proceed at your family’s pace, ensuring you have all the time you need for your final moments together.
The procedure consists of two injections. The first is a sedative that allows your pet to drift into a deep and comfortable sleep, free from any pain. Once your pet is fully sedated and your family has said their goodbyes, the final injection is administered to allow them to pass away peacefully. The entire process is humane and designed to feel like a gentle transition.

frequently asked questions
What is included in the cost?
The cost for the visit will vary depending on the size of your pet, the distance driven, and other factors such as the need for additional time or medications. The in-home euthanasia service includes the veterinary visit to your home, a brief assessment, and the sedation & euthanasia procedure. Additionally, based on your aftercare selection, the cost may include, cremation or aquamation, transportation, and keepsakes.
Will you assess my pet upon arrival?
How long does the appointment take?
We understand this is a tender time. Your veterinarian will be present in your home for 20-60 minutes, allowing ample space and time for you to say goodbye and be with your companion in a way that feels most comfortable and peaceful.
Will the vet take my pet with them after the appointment?
During your appointment, the vet will confirm your aftercare selection. If you opt for cremation or aquamation services, the vet will handle your pet’s transportation from your home and will care for your pet’s body until they are respectfully transferred to the appointed aftercare provider.
Are you available for emergencies?
Peaceful Passing’s priority is to accommodate our patients and we can usually have a veterinarian available for same day emergency visits. However, Peaceful Passing is not a 24 hour emergency service. If this is a serious emergency, we recommend contacting your regular veterinary clinic or the nearest veterinary emergency facility.

That being said...the private at home experience that Peaceful passing services provide and the caring staff and compassionate vet that guided me through the process really did make the whole situation the best it could have been.Posted on Tyler Van LieropTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Peaceful Passing was able to arrange next-day, in-home euthanasia services for our good boy of 19 years, Pippin. Dr. Suzanne and Emily provided compassion, kindness and respect throughout the whole service; giving time for goodbyes and walking us through the whole procedure. Thank you for making a hard day a little bit easier.Posted on Ashley R.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Peaceful Passing was a blessing in an emergency. Our eldest cat was in her final days and I couldn't bear to not have her home. They responded quickly and with such compassion. They made things as easy as possible in such an awful moment. Dr. Hooper was empathetic, compassionate, informative and so gentle. She made one of the hardest moments easier and validated our grief. I can't thank them enough for their help, empathy and care, as my cat was able to pass in comfort and with dignity. I cannot thank Dr. Shanna and the Peaceful Passing team enough for their kindness and compassion through this process. Dr. Shanna and the whole Peaceful Passings team were terrific to deal with in assisting with end of life for my Mum's cat Copper. I cannot believe this level of professionalism, compassion, and trust can be matched. Still a very sad day, but made that much more peaceful with Copper passing at home with those that love him. Thank you again to Dr. Shanna, and the entire Peaceful Passings staff.Posted on Amber PinkTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used Peaceful Passings for the second time last night, and I honestly can’t put into words how grateful we are. Saying goodbye to a pet is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do, but they make it as gentle and peaceful as it can possibly be. Dr. Graham was so kind and patient with us and with our cat, never rushed for a second. I especially appreciated how much care she took to make sure he was completely relaxed and comfortable before placing the IV. It’s still heartbreaking, of course, but they create such a quiet, loving atmosphere that feels like the most compassionate goodbye you could give. If you ever have the option to say goodbye at home, I truly can’t recommend them enough. They’ve given us peace on two incredibly difficult days, and that means everything.Posted on meg jenkinsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. So blessed with the care and comfort given to out special girl. The meeting was meant to be. The Dr. that provided the service was our girls first vet.
